How to export a Revolut statement (PDF, Excel or CSV) and analyze it

Download a Revolut currency statement, choose the right file format, and review spending without connecting your account.

Download the right statement

For a personal Revolut account, Revolut's instructions say to open Home, choose Accounts and the currency, then use More and Statement. Select the period and generate a PDF or Excel file. The statement covers one currency, so repeat it for each currency you hold. This is an account statement, not a confirmation of a single payment.

Revolut's Business account statement instructions also list CSV: open Statements, choose Account statement and a currency account, then select the period and file type. Do not assume a personal account offers CSV because Business does. Menu labels and regional availability can change.

Choose PDF, Excel or CSV

For analysis, take the Excel file on a personal account, or CSV on Business. A spreadsheet is read as a table, which is more accurate than reading a PDF page. In Pulget a spreadsheet also counts against your monthly pages by its rows rather than its pages; pricing explains how. Keep the PDF when you need a document to show someone, such as a landlord or an embassy.

Pulget accepts all three, and reads scanned PDFs with OCR. Whichever you choose, check the extracted rows before approving them. To get a clean CSV back after review, see converting bank statements to CSV.

Watch for these in a Revolut statement

  • One statement per currency means one file per currency. If you hold euros, dollars and pounds, that is three downloads for the same period.
  • Exchanging money inside Revolut leaves one currency and arrives in another, so it appears in two statements. It is a transfer between your own balances, not spending.
  • A card payment in a currency you do not hold is taken from one of your balances and shows in that balance's statement.

Analyze the transactions

  1. Create one Pulget account for each Revolut currency and upload its file. Pulget does not connect to Revolut. During preview every workspace is on Standard, which counts up to 3 accounts; see pricing.
  2. Review dates, signs, merchants and categories, then approve the import. A row already held by the same account is skipped. Possible duplicates across files appear under Duplicates in the Review inbox.
  3. Group each exchange between your balances as a transfer on the Transactions page, so it does not count as spending. Pulget suggests transfer pairs only when both sides have the same amount in the same currency, which an exchange never does.
  4. Compare spending and income by month. Charges that repeat on a steady schedule are suggested as recurring bills for you to confirm; finding recurring charges explains the rules. A reporting currency brings the balances together at the exchange rate for each transaction's date, keeping the original amounts. The currency guide explains the method.

For a local bank beside Revolut, see the expat account walkthrough, or for Birbank in Azerbaijan, how to download a Birbank statement. If the statements are from a move abroad, adding up what the move cost shows how to separate the move from everyday spending. Formats are listed in help.
